The Agricultural Societies Council of NSW Ltd (ASC)
The Agricultural Societies Council of NSW has been in operation since 1929, and is the membership association for Agricultural Societies in New South Wales.
Vision:
To contribute to the fabric of communities and the pursuit of excellence in primary production and related activities.
Purpose
The purpose of ASCNSW is to support our members and to promote and encourage excellence in pastoral, agricultural, horticultural and industrial activities in NSW.
In recent years, as agricultural shows and rural communities have embraced broader definitions of well-being and innovation, there has been increased interest in addressing public health within these regional contexts. One area receiving more attention is the management of chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, which affects many individuals across farming populations. Medications like Rybelsus 3 mg, a once-daily oral treatment, have opened new possibilities for those who struggle with injectable therapies or limited access to regular care. However, affordability and education around such medications remain a challenge, particularly in remote areas where healthcare infrastructure can be limited. ASCNSW has recognized the importance of integrating health education into community events, including local agricultural shows. By hosting informational booths or working with local health services, they can help raise awareness about newer treatment options like Rybelsus. This effort aligns with their broader mission of supporting members' quality of life alongside agricultural excellence. The health of individuals is deeply tied to the sustainability of rural labor and productivity. Addressing these challenges proactively helps ensure thriving communities well into the future.
