President - Hannah Barber – Parkes

Hannah has been involved in rural shows from a young age through the competing of her horses across central west NSW and has since been an active member of the society of her home town of Parkes. Hannah first became involved in the ASC Next Generation after representing Parkes as a state finalist in The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition in 2011 and after being heavily involved as a general committee member was elected to her first executive position as Vice President in 2013. Hannah is currently based in Wellington NSW where she is a high school teacher of English and Economics. 

Hannah has recently completed her Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) through her thesis entitled ‘Agricultural Engagement of NSW Secondary Schools‘  and maintains her commitment to agricultural education through her position with the ASC of NSW Next Generation.

Amy Pursehouse – West Wyalong

Amy Pursehouse is from Ariah Park, NSW and she currently works as a mixed animal veterinarian in West Wyalong. She first joined the ASC Next Generation Executive in 2010 as Secretary and became Vice President of the group in 2012. Amy has now been elected as the 2014 President. Amy was also selected as an RAS Rural Achiever state finalist in 2011 and has represented both the ASC and the ASC Next Generation at the Royal Agricultural Societies of the Commonwealth Conference.

Amy’s involvement in the show movement dates back to her showing of sheep and cattle. She competed over many years in junior judging where she was awarded state runner up in meat sheep junior judging. Amy has been actively involved in the group since becoming a member, in particular organising the Showall Rural Ball in Wagga Wagga for 3 years. Amy is very passionate about the country show movement, agriculture and in particular youth involvement. She believes by providing youth with networking opportunities the agricultural industry will blossom. She also feels as though country shows are one of the best ways to educate the general public about our progressive agricultural industries and a great way to bond our communities.

Vice President - Brooke Emerton – McGraths Hill

Brookehas always had a passion of agriculture and believed getting the younger generation actively involved will help sustain our agricultural future. Brooke’s goal is jumping in with both feet and helping out the society in any way she can. Brooke’s background includes full time service in both the Army and Royal Australian Air Force, spending 6 months of her service deployed in the Middle East (Iraq) with the Hercules aircraft from 2008 til early 2009. After she left the defence force in 2011 she joined the NSW Police Force as a general duties Police Officer. Brooke spent about 3 1/2 years as a Police Officer prior to enrolling into a Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) through Western Sydney University.

Vice President - April Barber – Wyalong

April first became involved in NSW country shows after being selected as a showgirl for the West Wyalong Show Society in 2014. She went on to become a Sydney Royal Showgirl Finalist in 2015. April became involved with the ASC Next Gen after her showgirl experience and began travelling to country shows to advocate for youth in shows and the showgirl movement. In the future she hopes to involve more youth in shows in her local area and help to establish a working group.Eilis McCormack is originally from Tamworth in northern NSW however her career has led her south to the foot of the snowy mountains at Adelong. She first joined the ASC Next Generation in 2013 as a committee member following selection as a 2013 Royal Agricultural Society Rural Achiever. Eilis completed a Bachelor’s degree in Crop and Animal Science after a life long strong passion for the beef and equine industry. As a result she is currently working at the Veterinary Clinical Centre at CSU Wagga Wagga. Eilis plans to make her involvement in the show movement one that makes a positive long term impact on youth entering into agriculture and an educational experience for those not in the industry.

Amelia hails originally from Bogan Gate NSW. She is currently in her 4th year of Dentistry at Charles Sturt University Orange. She has been involved with her local rural shows all her life; whether that be via competing in equestrian events, submitting floral and cake arrangements or volunteering in its organisation. She has a passion for the community spirit the organisation helps to foster. Upon graduation she plans to return to rural NSW and continue her involvement within the community.

Grace is from Grenfell, NSW and is the 2016 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl. She comes from a family actively involved in their local PAH&I Association in the Central West and is currently the social media coordinator for the Grenfell Show. Growing up and completing her primary and secondary schooling in Grenfell, Grace is very passionate about quality public education in rural and remote NSW. Upon completion of her double degree in Science and Secondary Education in 2016, Grace would like to improve the educational outcomes of Indigenous and low socioeconomic status students in these regions.

Grace has accepted the role of Secretary of the ASC Next Generation and is excited to use this position to inspire the involvement of youth in not only their local shows but in the broader Agricultural Show Movement.

From her humble beginning as a poultry and beef competitor six years ago, Natalie has immersed herself in the world of agricultural shows. She's the 2015 and 2016 Northern Suburbs/St Ives Showgirl, a horse ring steward for six of the local show societies, and lends a hand on committees wherever needed. Natalie's in her second year of the Bachelor of Science (Zoology)/Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) at Western Sydney University. She's always looking for the next way she can get involved more deeply with shows, and can't wait to start her adventure with ASC Next Gen!
