This book blew me away since the first page! The main character is a honest to God Nerd and I enjoyed so much of her inner dialogues and thoughts. Sera is a tr 5 Surprised stars. Sera is a true woman, with flaws and everything. The other main character is Hunter. Oh, Hunter. At first I highly disliked him because of his assholish behaviour, but how does never been kissed end book learned to love his gruffiness when it comes to protecting little Matty. And also, his diabetic status was such a contradiction with his strong will and bad ass attitude. I loved this part of him. The vulnerability beyond the stone-engraved man. Still, sometimes Hunter is a little too passive. Sure, life worned him out, but there were a couple passages where his behaviour and lash-out were too much for me to digest. And then Oh, little Matty. His character made this book stand out. He's a kid and usually kids in these books are mere background.
Something for the author to intruduce funny or sweet moments. Not this one. Matty is a living and breathing part of this book. He's the glue and the balance of the plot. I loved him maybe even more than Hunter. Also, there was a moment when Sera punched a guy who was being disrespectful to her and Hunter and I how does never been kissed end book backed her up. Not to entice violence, but it's damn time girls start protecting what matters to them and not let the males do all the punching. The plot was full of events and it never got boring. They had a few up and downs, personal issues to wade through and lots more obstacles to ovecome. I would have liked, however, to see someone from Sera's family pop up in the book somewhere since all her insecurities stemmed from them.
So, to sum it up, this book is totally sweet, charming and real. The ending knocked me off my socks and had me hurting maybe a little too much. Thank God everything resolves in the end becase for a moment I thoght of giving it only four stars. The problem was that after a while Sera's insecurities took over and she became less intersting and a little bit of a boring whiner. Hunter too, as I said earlier, was too forceful at times, and passive in other aspects, especially when it came to get her back. She is a nerd who speaks in movie quotes and as the title says, she's never been kissed. She struggles a lot throughout the book with her self-image and has very little confidence in herself. She's funny, sweet, thoughtful and kind. She's also snarky, tough and stubborn. I absolutely loved her and you can't help but root for her throughout this story. I loved Sera's use of movie quotes and language during conversation. There were many times while reading that I laughed-out-loud. I loved the way her relationship developed with Hunter. When I finished the last page of this book, I wanted to cry that it was over I loved it so much. This book was really fantastic and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!
