This book was the perfect way to help me tell my kids that I have cancer. The language is such that even small children can understand and it covers all the questions and emotions that kids may have. The book explains cancer, radiation and chemo in such a simple way, which was a huge blessing. I stressed for weeks about how to tell them and I am so eternally grateful that I found this book.

The illustrations are soothing and soft to comfort This book was originally written by Ellen as a gift to help her cousin, Rdview, explain her cancer diagnosis to her two sons, ages 3 and 5 at the time. Some words are emphasized with bold or capitalized letters to aid families in discussing terms and feelings with children. There is also a note from the author and a doctor in the beginning of the book that is a good resource to parents. Reading this introduction brought tears to my eyes and many of the lines in the book made me cry.
