Vartan is a solid enough actor and does well here while that other TV performer Jessica Alba is teview sexy it hurts despite having few lines and an unlikeable character. Overall this does exactly what it says on the tin and does it without too much in the way of flair or effort.
Fans of the genre will enjoy it but it may prove too basic for a wider audience.
I had heard the title many times from various sources, and I had always known who the leading actress was, so when I got the opportunity to finally see it, I did, from director Raja Gosnell Home Alone 3, Big Momma's House. Basically twenty five year old Josie Geller Drew Barrymore is a clever but at the same time simple and clumsy copy editor for the Chicago Sun Times, and she has ambitions to make it as a real reporter. She gets the chance to achieve this with her boss, the editor Rigfort Pretty Woman director Garry Marshall sending undercover in a high school to see what the modern teenagers are like. Review never been kissed at South Glen South High School she poses as a student, but with her simple ways she is instantly looked on as the accident prone brainy geek, and this does not do her any favours as in her real life Josie has never been kissed romantically. Her brother Rob David Review never been kissed does his best to make her over, and soon enough kiseed poses as a neveer in the high school himself, and the siblings both find love kissd, in Josie's case she has feelings for her bachelor teacher Sam Coulson Michael Vartan.

The plot is of course fairly silly; I'm sure it would be difficult and illegal to return to school as a student but somehow it doesn't matter too much; this was never meant to be realistic. There are a decent number of laughs to be had as well as some genuinely poignant moments; most notably the flashback of Josie's humiliation on the night of her prom. Fans of review never been kissed should enjoy the finale where Josie gets her man in an unlikely but surprisingly romantic setting. Overall I'd certainly recommend this to fans of Drew Barrymore or of the genre; it isn't a must see but it passes the time nicely.
Drew Barrymore doesn't always play the ditz--she was tough and smart in "Everafter" and I loved her sinister side in "Poison Ivy", but her role in this film marks a step backward for her. It's a plastic affair that puts Drew a year-old copy editor at the Chicago Tribune back in high school, undercover for a story. What story? Pot-smoking in the girl's room? Turns out 'today's youth' is just as brainless and insensitive as yesterday's, and poor Drew is forced to pratfall her way into their hearts. The serious undertones here are well-intentioned but poorly-placed there's no way we could take any of this premise halfway seriously and the romantic finale fails to satisfy.
It's aimed at juveniles, and might provide fitful entertainment for article source teens too immature to scoff, but "Never Been Kissed" is just a retread--a rerun of "Gidget"--and, worse, a disappointment to all those Barrymore-ravers hoping she'll become the next Julia Roberts.
