It made me feel horrible to read his descriptions of how he spent his time because despite the pitifulness of his life, Moo absolutely does not feel sorry for himself.
He understands pity and hates it. He refuses to allow himself to indulge in it. One night as he watches cars on his bridge he sees an episode of apparent road rage and someone dies as a result. Moo seems to be the only real witness and he is questioned by the police. My problem with this book is the way Brooks decides to end it. Actually, the way he decides not to end it. I don't want to ruin it for future readers, but I felt it was a cop out. I don't need a neatly packaged and tied ending.
